Serve
Ready To Serve?
We believe that every act of kindness can transform lives and build a brighter future for all.
People from all around the area, including Wheaton Bible Church, Iglesia del Pueblo, and our friends and neighbors, come together for CareFest. We’d be thrilled if you joined us in 2025!
Follow CareFest to be notified when new projects are announced in Spring 2025 by visiting https://carefest.eventbrite.com and clicking the “Follow” button!
You don’t need to be part of a church to get involved with CareFest. Keep reading for more details on how to sign-up to serve at CareFest, event day info, and answers to frequently asked questions.
Everything You Need to Know About Serving at CareFest
What exactly is a CareFest project?
CareFest projects typically involve gardening, landscaping, painting, repairing, mulching, planting flowers/bushes/trees, deep cleaning, building, and sometimes even putting on a parade!
What time do we start and end?
Most projects run from 9am to around 1pm on the Saturday of CareFest. The time expectation is always clearly listed for each project.
Who can Serve?
Anyone can join! This is a church-initiated event, but we’ve had friends and neighbors, employee teams, community members, teachers, students, and school board members join us to intentionally work for the good of our community.
Come be one of the many neighbors serving neighbors this year. You know you want to! You’ll even get a CareFest t-shirt to show you were part of the team!
Do I need any special skills?
No, you do not need any special skills in order to serve! Just bring a willingness to work and you’ll be amazed at what can be accomplished.
That being said, we ALWAYS have projects where specialized skills like gardening, painting, carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work are needed. So, if you have experience in one of these areas, browse the projects to find the best fit for your skills. When a project requires specific expertise, there will be descriptions asking for people to serve with those specific skills.
If you’d like to share your experience and specific skills with us in advance, please click on the button below. We will do our best to match you with a project that needs your particular set of skills!
What if I have kids? Can they serve too?
Yes! If the project is designated as “Family Friendly” that means there are parts of the project that kids ages 10 and under could probably do. Look for the Family Friendly “Collection” on the Eventbrite webpage to see all these projects in one group.
Where do I view the projects and sign up?
Projects are made public in April each year and are added to the list as they get approved and organized with sufficient details. All projects are listed, in no particular order, on our Eventbrite page! You can view them here:
I have an idea for a project. Who do I contact?
Do you know of a friend or neighbor who could benefit from a little help? If the answer is YES, then ask yourself this question, “Is this project idea a tangible job that a team of 10-40 people could tackle in 4 hours on a Saturday to help your friend/neighbor?” If the answer is YES, then tell us about your project idea by answering a few simple questions through our online form.
***Submitting a project does not guarantee project approval. Our CareFest leadership team will be the ones to evaluate and determine if the project fits within our scope and ability.
What's the deal with the T-shirts?
The CareFest t-shirt acts like a uniform for our team, creating a unique energy that comes from being part of a 1000+ person group all working toward the same goal. Plus, since CareFest started in 2005, some people have quite the collection of shirts!
Here’s what the 2025 CareFest shirt looks like:
The phrase “Serving our Neighbors” is featured in six of the most common languages spoken on a Sunday morning at Wheaton Bible Church: Spanish (above the CareFest logo), French, Arabic, Filipino, Khmer, and English. It’s a beautiful reminder of our diverse community working together!
